Ninja is 2 years old today. Happy Birthday!
Ninja’s first Meetup
After a morning of herding sheep (yes, really), Ninja went to his first NYC Area Husky Meetup Group meetup, at Carl Schurz Park. Ninja’s new neighbor Quptas was there too. Quptas is a 3-month old husky puppy who lives on the same floor as Ninja in our apartment building.
Ninja’s Internet Admirer
In January, we posted on the Western Massachusetts craigslist, to find some playmates for Ninja while we were in Williamstown. We lucked out, because less than 1 hour after posting, we heard from Juneau and Luna, a pair of huskies that became fast friends with Ninja.
… but we weren’t counting on receiving another response today, almost one month later:
Ever the considerate pup, Ninja responded to her message and politely informed her that he doesn’t have play-dates with humans, but that he’s quite confident she’ll have no problem finding a partner for frisbee or or roughhousing soon.
Ninja got wet
We took Ninja for a walk and got ambushed by a major downpour. Here he is after we got back inside.
Ninja moved (apartments)
A few months ago Ninja moved internet hosting providers. Now he’s moving apartments. We placed some cookies around the apartment, and then let Ninja inside to explore. We videotaped it. Unfortunately there wasn’t much lighting inside so some of the shots are pretty dark.
Ninja’s face is dirty because he has just come inside from the park. He was playing with a chow, mini-collie, and a shi tzu.
Who’s that puppy?

… gotcha! Those are not pictures of Ninja. They are pictures of two different Alaskan Malamute / Husky mixes. Based on these (almost) dead ringers for Ninja, we are now quite confident that Ninja himself is a Husky/Mal. (Or perhaps a Utonagan, based on this picture, and also this one in which there’s a dog that looks just like Ninja when wet).
Ninja moved.

Ballin’
Inspired by the New York Giants’ playoff run, Ninja has taken up football. And taken apart a football. This toy lasted less than 3 minutes… that was my fault, I should have reserved it for fetch.
Back Again
The digital camera was out of commission for a while, but now we have one that works! Here’s a photo to whet your appetite.
How’s the traffic outside Ninja’s Petco?
I was planning a trip to the Big Island to get Ninja’s food this morning, and decided to check the traffic. Things look pretty bad right now, so I think Ninja will have to skip lunch (just kidding!). This camera is a few blocks North of the Petco in Kips Bay, where we get Ninja’s Purina Pro Plan Selects Puppy (Turkey).
Lake Joseph
Ninja took a weekend trip to Lake Joseph, in Forestburgh, New York. He went swimming in the lake, and ran around in the woods. He met a lot of dogs, including Lucky, Stella, Luke and Semimaru. This picture is courtesy of George Garbeck Photography. Mr. Garbeck himself was at the lake with Luke and snapped a number of pictures, some of which you can see in the gallery.
Trip to the park
Ninja took a trip to Carl Schurz park. The park has separate runs for big dogs and small dogs. Take a look at some pictures.

Ninja is recovering beautifully from his microchipping and neutering. In a week or so he’ll be ready to hit the streets again. For now, please enjoy the picture of Ninja getting his much-needed bed rest.

Ninja and Chachi reunited
Although Ninja still can’t go outside or play with (dog) strangers because he hasn’t had all his shots yet, Ninja’s vet cleared him to play with Chachi. You can watch a high-resolution video of Ninja and Chachi playing here, or you can watch a faster-downloading version at Youtube.
